Martha the (confident) Mouse

Martha, a rather shy and timid mouse, lives alone in a tree fort, high above a cottage. She dreams about the mice that live in the cottage, and the friendships she might enjoy…if only she could figure out a way to manage her worries and fears,… and feel confident about making new friends.

Martha the (confident) Mouse, is a story that tackles shyness and fears, and the worry that can be associated with it. Making rational sense of this with children, and teaching them concrete strategies to manage it, can be challenging to say the least!

Martha’s simple “idea” is a straightforward and visual strategy, allowing her to manage her feelings of fear, shyness and worry with confidence. It is also about having the courage to take a chance in a situation that may seem completely overwhelming, and the belief that one can find ways to manage and conquer one’s fears and trepidations.

Martha the (imaginative) Mouse

Martha, that adorable little mouse, is back… with a little more confidence… and another strategy… to help her “become” all the exciting things she can only imagine. A simple discovery opens a creative world of adventure, glamour, and fun,… and the endless possibilities that her imagination can create.

Martha the (imaginative) Mouse is a follow-up to Martha the (confident) Mouse, a book that tackles shyness and the worry and fear associated with it. Her new strategy uses imagination, and role play, to develop a more comfortable and confident sense of self.
